DFA Passport Renewal and Setting an Appointment

Hi guys, if you're still remember I posted an article about on how to get a passport in DFA San Fernando La Union, now I am going to discuss on how to process your passport for renewal and how to set up an appointment.

Let me reiterate first about the new passport in the Philippine. The latest e-covers of the Philippines passport contain a microchip which stores the biometric and the basic personal information of the passport holder. These information can be easily read by special microchip readers in the immigration section of a country's airport.

The trends of this microchip is typically contains the primary information such photograph of the holder, a digitized secondary photo, an electronic print of the signature and fingerprints of the passport holder. Because of the latest e-covers of the Philippine passport, the dfa encourages all the filipino passport holder to renew their old passport.

According to "The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) that all non-machine readable passports will be phased out by November 24, 2015 and may no longer be extended beyond October 31, 2015. "
"They must instead apply for a new e-Passport (dark maroon) as soon as possible before the expiry of their current MRRP (green) or MRP (maroon) passports”
"Those who fail to do so will likely encounter difficulty at immigration checks when traveling through any ports of entry around the world after October 2015,"

If you are one the Filipinos who are still using the green or the maroon Philippine passport you still have time to renew it. Because as of the DFA said that all non-machine readable passports will be phased out until November 2015.

However, renewing passports has been made to become a less hassles unlike before you have to wait and go on with the heavy long line and feels like it takes for a day just to renew or get a new passport. But no worries now because of the new set appointment  system of the DFA which made to become more easier for all the Filipinos.

Renewing passport is faster than applying passport for the first time, simply because your all your details are now already stored in the DFA database. In renewing your passport you only have to bring your old passport and you do not need to bring passport sized photos anymore. The staff or personnel will just check them and update them in case there are new information to update about you like example you want to change status, your marriage surname for females.
